The co-relation between technology and defected sleep

Technology has become our best friend in every sphere. It has changed the very way we think, the way we walk, the way we eat, our likings, our disliking and our interests. Do you too use the internet for a product and read up on a bed before buying it?

Gone are the days when you used to fall into sleep, while looking at the stars. Today, your day ends while staring, at a screen. You cannot be blamed for all of it. The heavy workload has made it impossible for us to relax back even after the day is over. Why? You always check your WhatsApp at least once before you sleep. Don’t you?

Appealing and attractive as these gadgets might seem, they come with a lot of drawbacks. They seriously endanger your health though you might not notice this initially.

How many of you serve from sleep disorders? In today’s world, according to a survey, every one person in four has some problem with his sleep. Why is that so? There can, of course, be a number of underlying reasons behind it, but one thing stays constant. Yes, the gadgets we talked about! All of them can change your sleeping habits very adversely.

Here are some sleep habits that you must change to assure that you get a good and a relaxed sleep.

Do you sleep with your phone?

It is completely okay to sleep with your loved ones. But wait, not if you are talking about the person staring back at your screen. Numberless researchers have found that people who sleep with their phone on their side cannot sleep as well as those who nap without it. Your phone is in constant interaction with so many invisible rays that might not be visible to the naked eyes. These can seriously affect the cells of your body.

Do you remember how often have you woken up at night receiving a call or a text message?

Therefore, keeping your phone away from you when you are sleeping will be the first step to get a good night’s sleep.

Love your TV?

This is a very common practice. You love seeing your favorite TV show, before sleeping. This however, can be another reason why you can’t sleep properly because the bright light that your TV gives out can seriously affect your brain’s secretion of melatonin. This particular hormone is responsible for maintaining the normal sleep-wake cycle of your body. So, make sure that you switch off your box at least half an hour, before you plan to sleep.

Tablets

If you have a tablet and you spend a lot of time looking at its screen by bending your neck down, that can affect your sleeping pattern, too.  It is because your head keeps on hanging down while your neck muscles provide all the support. So, the next time you look at your tablet, bring it to a neutral position to minimize the strain on your neck and head.

Do you have a bad posture?

In today’s world, maximum jobs require you to sit in a fixed position for a long time and keep staring at a computer screen. For this, you will have to maintain a proper posture to ensure that minimum damage is caused to your body.

  • Your knees must make a 90 degree angle.
  • Your feet must be flat on the floor.
  • The monitor must be at the eye level.
  • The wrists must be parallel to the ground.

Stay Positive

A scroll through your new feed can excite a number of emotions into you. You might have certain friends that talk only about that bad things happening to them. It has been scientifically proven that mere reading a negative thought can affect your brain. You will have to learn to delete the negative people from your life.

Also, do not compare yourself with others. Our life on social networking sites only represents the happy areas. Do not forget that life is made of ups and downs, high and lows. And that is what makes it worth living. So, focus on your life and not of others. This will provide you with sheer peace of mind and a very sound sleep.

So, take a break from this technology and sleep well. Good Night.
